The Village of Anses d'Arlet

pêcheur de martinique

Considered the most beautiful village in Martinique, Les Anses d’Arlet are located about forty km south of Fort de France (40 minutes from the airport).
The vast territory of the commune extends between Les Trois-Ilets and Le Diamant and includes Grande Anse, Petite Anse, The Village, Anse Dufour and Anse Noire.
The main shops are located in the village : a pharmacy, a bakery, a small market for local producers. (in the morning), a souvenir bazaar, a few groceries (extra) and a fish carbet, open when you return from fishing (variable schedule) : marlin, tuna, sea bream or other
It is best to do most of your shopping, either at the mall CARREFOUR GENIPA (exit on the right when coming from the airport), or at MARKET EXPRESS from Anse à l'Ane, or to CARAÏBE PRICE at Trois Ilets.
For barbecued lobster, amateurs will find what they are looking for by ordering from a fisherman at Anse DUFOUR (ours is called Georges...) or in Petite Anse.

Eglise St Henri

The St Henri church of the Anses d'Arlet, classified as a historical monument, was built in strict alignment of the pontoon, which earned it a place on Martinique's best-selling postcard.
Its bell tower, 27 meters high, was rebuilt in 2008, after Hurricane Dean.

La Plage du Bourg

The 7 or 8 beach restaurants are concentrated at the entrance to the village at Coin des Pères (take rue Eugène Larcher, to the right of the Church). They offer seafood and local cuisine.
We have our habits in Kaban'Ylan for its fish tartare, its Tahitian marlin and its tables a few meters from the sea.
But it's all a matter of taste and you'll be spoiled for choice.
So why not try Valy et le Pêcheur or Coco Turquoise ?

ti_punch

But parking is not easy ! Then the car park at the entrance to the village (300 m) will give you some exercise.
After sipping a planteur or a ti'punch accompanied by traditional acras (shrimp, cod or vegetable fritters), let yourself be tempted by a grilled lambi (large shellfish), a chatrou (local octopus) or a ouassou (fish with an elongated nose) and finish with a blanc-manger (flan).
And after all that, a ti' vieux will prevail !
